Difference between a boiler and boiler drum?


Boiler:- 
             it is a pressure vessel  in which steam is generated for use external to itself by application of heat. It is a combination of apparatus for producing,furnishing or recovering heat together with the apparatus.

Boiler Drum:- 
                 There are two general types of boiler
1.water tube boiler
2.fire tube boiler
 The boiler drum which is also known as steam drum is used on water tube boiler.The primary purpose is to separate the saturated steam from the steam-water mixture that leaves the heat transfer surface and enters the drum.The steam free water is recirculated within the boiler with the incoming feed-water for further steam generation.
